I'm sure many of you guys have experienced the long time taken to copy large amounts of data in windows OS, especially when the amount being copied is in the gigabytes.
FastCopy is an opensource software that speeds up this copying process in windows. Once installed it will put an entry in the context menu.



Once you select one of the options a window will allow you to select the destination directory and other optimization options



The program outstrips the usual windows copying mechanism by a mile, especially when copying a large amount of data (>5gb).
If you dont like the hassel of manually specifying the destination directory, and want to work with the usual ctrl+c ctrl+v combination, you can check out teracopy, which takes over the windows copying mechanism for those keyboard combinations, although its not as fast as fastcopy.
